CONFIDENTIAL.
Roland F. Knoedler Esq.,
M. Knoedler & Company,
355 Fifth Ave., City.
Dear Mr. Knoedler:-
In reference to your query concerning the
placing of Mr. Frick's insurance, I beg to state that it is
not customary in every instance to write a policy where the
insurance is for a term of less than fifteen (15) days; as the
insurance would expire in many cases before the policy is received
and in order to facilitate the work of the Insurance
Companies, and to prevent their charging us more than the minimum
for such insurance, we accept in lieu of the policy a
bill, however, not without having procured beforehand a binder
which is good for the term of the insurance stipulated,
and in a valid contract when signed by the representative of
the Insurance Company as if a policy was procured and issued.
As to the rates that this insurance is
written, I could not duplicate them as a whole for so low a
figure entirely in the United States. You must recollect
your instructions to me were that this insurance must take
care of every possible casualty, and if you will note the copy
of the contract that I left with you, you will note that this
is one which I firmly believe has never been before underwritten
for a parallel case in this country.
