My dear Mr. Frick:-
We have obtained the following information regarding
"The Iron Worker and King Solomon".
The size of the engraving is 36 inches wide, by 25 1/2
high, and it is published in two states. The proofs are $30.-
and the other state is $10.- The first state has no printing
upon it, simply the name of the artist. We cannot get a perfect
impression in this state, the margins being stained. The other
state has the following printed upon it.
Beneath the title which we have already given is a
quotation from Isaiah LIV-16. "Behold I have created the Smith,
that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an
instrument for his work." To the left is the following inscription
"When the Temple at Jerusalem was completed King Solomon gave a
feast to the artificers employed in its construction. On unveiling
the Throne it was found that a blacksmith had usurped the seat
of honor on the right of the King's place, not yet awarded. Whereupon
the people clamored and (to the right, of the engraving)
the guard rushed to cut him down. "Let him speak"! commanded
